In order for me to share with you how Jesus changed my life so completely, I must go back to September of 1969. At that time, I had just gone blind from glaucoma and sugar. I also had emphysema from smoking about three packages of cigarettes per day, and I was an alcoholic contemplating suicide.

During the next three years, I really had to struggle to keep myself together and keep going. I drove myself unmercifully, and battled depression constantly. Until one evening, while listening to a Billy Graham crusade, the Lord revealed Himself to me. Praise His Holy Name!

At that time, He told me that if I would commit my life in to His hands, and allow Him to use me as He wanted to use me, He would set me free of all my addictions, heal my body, and restore my vision.

That very same evening, broken before the Lord, I invited Jesus to come in to my heart, take over my life, and make me the kind of person that He wanted me to be. I told Him that all I had ever done was make a mess of my life, so if He could take my life and use my life to bless others, than I was all His.

At the same time, I put my family and my marriage into His hands as well. I gave Him all that I possessed that blessed night. And when I did, I found the peace that I had searched for, the past thirty-eight years. I found the peace that passes all human understanding. The peace of Almighty God! Hallelujah!

From that night on, I never had another cigarette, or alcoholic beverage of any kind. The desire for these things was gone. He had taken it away, and I had no withdrawals of any kind either. All glory to God!

After that night, I never again had the urge to take my own life. Instead, I had a burning desire within me to live and tell everyone, everywhere, what Jesus had just done for me. I was so happy!

Throughout the next month, the Lord spoke to me about baptism by emersion, and then the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I followed Him through these two steps in obedience.

From that time on, I began to awaken each morning with a song in my heart! All I could do was talk about Jesus, and what He had done for me. He had empowered me to share with others my own testimony. He filled me to overflowing with joy unspeakable, full of glory. My joy just seemed to spill out on everyone around me. Hallelujah!

   Throughout the year that followed, the healing hand of the Lord touched my body many times, finally bringing me to the place where I could begin to walk in divine health. At the end of one full year my body was healed!

Just about six months later, while standing in the midst of a congregation in Squirrel Hill, Pennsylvania, hands uplifted in worship and praise, the healing hand of Jesus touched me once again. This time He touched my eyes!

It felt like a knife cutting away all that was behind my eyes and down alongside my nose, but on the inside. The pain was excruciating, far worse than it had ever been with glaucoma! Everyone told me that my face was scarlet with large beads of perspiration all over it. I felt like I was on fire! Water was running from my eyes. Then, in a matter of minutes, the lights came on for me. They were bright, bright lights! My vision was restored !

God had kept His promise to me, and I give Him all the glory, honor, and praise that He so richly deserves. "Jesus, the same yesterday, today, and forever!" "By His stripes, I was healed!" And I must tell you, as long as I have breath within me, I will praise and lift high the precious Name of Jesus!

I've just shared with you how Jesus came in to my heart and life, at my invitation, bringing great peace and joy to me. I also shared how He set me free of all of my addictions, healed my body, and restored my vision.

Many years have gone by now, and I have continued to walk with Him, day by day, serving Him to the very best of my ability. As I have, He has worked within me to untangle all of my emotions and heal all of my painful memories as well. He has caused me to grow and mature in Him, and in His Word, while at the same time, He was developing all of the gifts which He had deposited within me. Through the years it has been quite an adventure with Jesus! I would never turn back!

Dear ones, let me say to you that Jesus is no respecter of persons. What He has done for me, He will also do for you, if you will just give Him the opportunity.

Won't you open your heart and your life to Jesus now, and in so doing give Him the opportunity? He is ready and waiting! He loves you so much!

If you are willing, please pray this little prayer with all of your heart: "Dear Lord, forgive me for every sin in my life. I do believe that you died on the cross for me, and I thank you for your glorious resurrection. Jesus, I invite you right now to come in to my heart, and in to my life. Take over my life completely, and make me the kind of person You want me to be. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, then lead me and guide me in the way You would have me to go. Teach me to obey You! Make me a blessing to others! Thank You, Jesus! I love You! Thank You, for loving me!"
