Open Letter to

 George W. Bush,  Ariel Sharon, and Mahmoud Abbas

May 2005

 

Dear President Bush, Prime Minister Sharon, and Mr. Abbas,

 

Each of you hold important leadership positions that will effect the entire world.      Your decisions will either be to the benefit of mankind or to its demise.   Your choices are effectively writing your respective personal legacies as well as the legacies of your people.  You will be held accountable before men and eternally accountable before God.  

 

I appeal first to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.   Sir, you have the awesome responsibility of leading a special people.   The Jewish nation is a living miracle, of which you are no small part.   Your skill as a general leading the IDF is legendary, and the exploits of your men contributed greatly to Israel’s existence.  This modern day miracle was blueprinted through God’s prophets thousands of years ago in the Torah and Tanakh (Old Testament).   No people group in all of history has been dispossessed of its land and remained as a distinct people.  Yet, the Jewish people have been kept intact, knit together by the precepts and truths outlined in the Good Book, some 3,500 years ago.   The Jewish people have been re-gathered according to the words of the Almighty.   Israel has been granted a significant portion of what God has given to her as an everlasting possession and you, Mr. Sharon, have been raised up to lead your unique and chosen people, whom God calls the “apple of His eye.”   What a privilege, and what a responsibility!

 

In addition to giving possession of the land of Israel to the Jewish people, the Almighty also calls Israel, “MY land” several times in the Torah and Tanakh.   This expression tells me that He is the landlord, and the Jewish people are the rightful tenants.   A tenant does not have the right to give away the landlord’s real estate.  Try this in any civilized nation, and you will find yourself before a judge and jury, guilty of a crime.  How much more will this be true in the courtrooms of heaven?   Mr. Sharon, you are hurting your people grievously and violating the plan that God has ordained for you and all of Israel.   Your intentions may be commendable, but good intentions, when they violate the essence of God’s plan for Israel, have no validity.

 

Giving away God’s land to the enemies of your people may have in its root a strong desire and willingness to have peace.   However, it can seem to some to exemplify cavernous unbelief.   In essence, your decision to give away the land of Israel indicates that God can give you the land, but that He has not the ability to keep you in the land.      Your decision to use Israel’s land as currency to purchase peace from an avowed enemy indicates that you trust Islamic terrorists more than God as your source for peace.   Your actions further imply that the Almighty does not care, He is powerless, and that you must take things into your own hands, thus demonstrating lack of respect for God’s revealed Word in the Torah and Tanakh.

 

As I try to get your attention, Mr. Prime Minister, I also hope that multitudes of Jews will hear, both in the diaspora and in the land.  I am quoting the cry of God’s heart.  His cry is found in the Tehillim (Psalm 81:13-14).   “If only My people would but listen to Me, if Israel would follow My ways, how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their foes!”  

 

Mr. Sharon, be encouraged!  HEAR what God is trying to say to you through His Word.  Do it HIS way, and watch Him frustrate and subdue your enemies.  Take heart and demonstrate your leadership by reaching out to the same God who led Abraham into the land that you now inhabit.  Encourage all of Israel to do the same.  God will hear such a cry and will come to Israel’s aid.  He is that merciful and compassionate!  He will give you whatever you need to sustain you and your people in the land that He has allotted to you.  It is His Word…but there must be faithful obedience and honor given to His Word.

 

I appeal to President George W. Bush.   Sir, you have been pushing the “Road map” as a peace plan for months that have now turned to years.   You sent your emissary, Colin Powell to introduce the world to this plan in public speeches, offering it as the way that Israel will have peace and the so-called “Palestinian” people will have a sovereign state within the land of ancient Israel.  You have now commissioned Condoleeza Rice to act as your mouthpiece to insist upon a contiguous “Palestinian” state that would connect Gaza and parts of Judea and Samaria.  Perhaps it is being done unwittingly, and with the true desire to bring peace to the Middle East, but I believe that you are insisting not on a peace plan but a piece plan.   You have been pressing Israel to give up her God-given land to satisfy the blood thirsty demands of idolatrous, murderous, and out-of-control Islamics. 

 

Mr. President, you have publicly announced yourself to be a Christian.    As such, you are no doubt in agreement with the idea that the Torah and Tanakh (Old Testament) is the valid and inspired inerrant Word of God.    It is my hope that you have been educating yourself as to what His covenant says as it regards Israel and the Jewish people.   If so, then you must be aware that God has informed humanity that if we bless the Jewish people, we will be blessed, and if we curse the Jewish people we will be cursed  (See Genesis 12:3).   I also assume that you would know or would like to know that the Old Testament is quite clear that “the nation that will not serve Israel will perish” (see Isaiah 60:12).

 

There is another attention-getting statement penned by the prophet Joel.   It tells us that God will drag a nation through the Valley of Jehoshaphat (judgment) for those that “divide up My land”.  These powerful words define Israel as “His land” which means that you aren’t just dividing up the land of the Jews…but land that God specifically calls “His”.  Mr. President, that’s extremely dangerous, for you and for America…and will hurt Israel.

 

It confounds me, Mr. President, if you have read these verses and believe them, how you can take a stance against them.   I can only assume that either you are uninformed, misperceive their meaning, or you have chosen to challenge the God of the universe, thinking that you will prevail.  In any case, by acting against these biblical truths, you are dragging all of America into the judgment chambers of Almighty God.   I, for one, do not want to go there.    

 

President Bush, you are presiding over a nation overflowing with pornography, abortion, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, pedophilia, murder, corporate and government scandals, mountainous economic debt, identity theft, drug and alcohol addiction, materialism, and the list can go on.   With all of this, one of the few good things America can claim is that she has been at least a mediocre friend to Israel.   America has overall been supportive to Israel and the Jewish people.  Recant on this stance, Mr. President, and there would seem to be little remaining of a moral America.   Pursuing the “Road Map” will invite a long-delayed judgment of God upon us.   I believe that our 9-11 tragedy, the Oklahoma bombing and the like will seem like a day at the beach compared with what God has in store for us if America turns our back on Israel.  We dare not, Mr. President, demand that Israel make room for yet another Islamic terrorist state within her ancient God-given boundaries.

 

In addition, Mr. President, it is duplicitous and hypocritical to have America’s soldiers running all over Afghanistan in pursuit of Osama bin Laden, and one hundred and fifty thousand of America’s sons and daughters trying to fight terrorism in Iraq, while you and our state department continue to pressure Israel into “showing restraint” against the terrorists that have murdered so many of Israel’s citizens.   Consummating the “Peace (Piece) Plan” or Road Map, by pressuring Israel will only inflame Israel’s Islamic enemies, convincing them that their strategy of terror has bought them victory.  They will continue their jihad (“holy” war), but with a new vigor and with a greater foothold over the tiny area of Israel.

 

Mr. President, as a Christian, you would be in God’s favor by exhorting Prime Minister Sharon to stand for his people and stand for the land that God has given the Jewish people.   I encourage you to urge him to continue to build Israel and to make room for millions more Jews who will be coming to Israel, in accordance with the numerous biblical promises of restoration.   

 

If you insist upon a two-state solution, then insist also that the new state be within the confines of the enormous land mass that has been designated for the Islamic Arab people.   I say “designated” because even nations like Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia have been incepted within only the last several decades.  They did not exist before then.   They do not have the socio-political background of Israel, and more importantly they do not have the biblical history nor a heavenly mandate as does Israel.  In fact, the original United Nations plan to create a Palestinian State in 1947, was to have been in the land that is now called Jordan.

 

Let the wealthy oil-rich Islamic nations that claim to love their Palestinian brothers and sisters allot some reasonable amounts of land and let the Palestinians do the moving…not the Jews.    Encourage the Palestinians that want to stay and live as law-biding citizens under Israeli rule, to remain.  

 

In my observance of Israel’s actions over the past several decades I note that they have bent over backwards trying to accommodate and educate “Palestinians” in hopes of helping them become decent and successful law-biding citizens.   Israel has built over 20 universities for the “Palestinian” people, and has put forth enormous effort to help them in many other ways.   Israel has more than done its job trying to be a good neighbor while being surrounded by those that continue to murder indiscriminately and who systematically teach their children to do likewise.

 

President Bush, I urge you to cease and desist from insisting that Israel implement this poorly conceived “Road Map”.   If you, as the American president, insist on coercing Israel into giving away her land, you will be in direct confrontation with the Almighty.   His promises of judgment will come to pass, and our entire nation will feel the pain.  Surely, we will reap what our leader sows, and what we are sowing as a nation towards Israel is defiance to God’s revealed Word.

 

Also, your recent decision to spend America’s tax dollars to finance a man and a culture that has for decades declared their hatred for Israel and the Jewish people, would indicate that you are morally disoriented.   In this matter, Mr. President, you are using hard-earned American capital to float a “Palestinian” terrorist state. What you are fighting in Iraq, you are encouraging within Israel’s borders.  

 

Lastly, I speak to Mr. Abu Mazen or Mahmoud Abbas, whoever you are.  I know some things about you.   I know that you are a lieutenant of the late Yassir Arafat.   I know that you served this murderous terrorist for several decades.    You are also a man who denies the Holocaust where over 6,000,000 men, women, and children were executed…just because they were Jewish.    Denying such history Mr. Abbas or Mr. Mazen is like denying Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, or in your neck of the woods, the Egyptian pyramids.  To deny the existence of these world wonders would indicate a person to be blind to reality or grossly self-deceived.  In either case the malady is far more sinister when applied against the truth of the Holocaust.

 

I also know, Mr. Abbas, that you recently made a statement, that “little jihad” is over, and “big jihad” starts.   I know too, that you dedicated your presidential victory to your “brother shahid, Yassir Arafat” and to the “shahids” (martyrs) that have murdered themselves in order to murder Jews.  I know also that you are insisting that Jerusalem be the capital of the so-called “Palestinian” state, and that you are insisting on possessing all of Judea and Samaria as well as Gaza.  I know also, that the Palestinian Covenant has never been renounced, and it calls for the total elimination of Israel.

 

Your past history reveals that you were the treasurer of the PLO.  As the guardian of their money-bag, I’m sure that you are aware that the “Palestinian” people have received more money over the past decades than the entire Marshall Plan to rebuild post World War 2 Europe.   With all of this financial resource it is mind-boggling to observe that so many of your people continue to live in poverty and squalor, all supervised by the United Nations. Where’s the money, Mr. Abbas?

 

I know that you were the engineer of many hijackings, assassinations, car bombings, homicide bombings, etc.   With such a colorful past, perhaps you will understand why I doubt your claimed peaceful intentions, and why I have heartburn over the fact that there are many Western leaders stumbling over themselves to bring into existence a new country carved out of Israel, that you supposedly will rule.  

 

Former Islamic terrorist Walid Shoebat in his book, “Why I Left Jihad”, clearly exposes the Islamic strategy of “hudna”, the process of declaring a false treaty of peace or ceasefire to rebuild a weakened position.   After the “hudna” has achieved its purpose, the rejuvenated Islamic fighting force can then attack with a new vigor.   I am also familiar with the Islamic concept of “taqiah” which in essence states that it is morally justifiable and encouraged to employ lies and deception as long as it furthers the goals of Islam.  Understanding taqiah along with hudna adds clarity to the observed PLO/Palestinian behavior of recent decades and gives us a warning about your future intentions.

 

 Based on the track record of Arafat’s and your leadership back to the Olso, Hebron, and Wye Accords,  I see nothing that would indicate to me that you are sincere in stopping terrorism or keeping your word as designated in these Accords.   Despite your clever words, your behavior and that of your “Palestinians” demonstrate that you are not sincere in making true peace with Israel.  My bible states that “you shall know them by their fruit”.   Perhaps I have been observing the biblical description of Psalm 55:21.  “His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they were drawn swords.”

 

Mr. Abbas, whatever you are able to wrangle from tired and/or deceived Israeli leaders in the form of land or concessions, the very most that you can hope for is something that will be very temporary and very painful for you and your people.   I am convinced that you are not going to succeed with the diabolical plan to uproot Jewish people from their homes and claim those homes soon after, as your own.  

 

Under the anointing of God’s Spirit, a feisty prophetic shepherd by the name of Amos, penned the following words:  “I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them.  They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.  I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them, says the Lord your God.” If there is a “disengagement” from Gaza and/or northern Samaria, it will very temporary, until God restores Israel to ALL of their promised land.  It is a promise on which we can all count.

 

Mr. Abbas, I am not naïve so as to think that you will follow my suggestions.   I am convinced that even if you wanted to move your people into Jordan or Egypt, or to live peaceably under Israeli rule, that your Islamic brothers of other nations would not allow it, and would continue to use you and your “Palestinian” people as their crowbar to try to destroy Israel. You will continue to be used by your Islamic brothers as a tool of destruction, and your people will continue to suffer as they reap the fruit of sown hatred and murder towards the Jewish people.

 

In conclusion, President Bush, please toss the ill-conceived “Road Map” strategy into the dumpster, and begin to support Israel according to the Bible which you profess as your guidebook.  It is in this Guidebook that you will find the road map of the Almighty.  Begin by moving the American embassy to Jerusalem as U.S. lawmakers have voted to do some years ago.  Insist on an undivided Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.    Stand with Israel and her people in accordance with the Scriptures, and in so doing you will be standing with the Almighty.  

 

Prime Minister Sharon, I pray that the Almighty is going to put some teeth back into the old “lion”.   Be encouraged!   Fear not!   Trust the Lord and His Word.   He has not brought the Jewish people back to His land to have a prime minister give it away to murderous enemies.   God will honor any step of faith that would line up with the revealed words of His Torah and Tanakh.   Stand with Him and His holy word, and He will stand with you.

 

To Mahmoud Abbas, may the Almighty convict you of your need for Him.   May He change your heart to one that beats for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.   May He trip you up every time you implement “taqiah” and “hudna” to deceive, lie, or attempt to harm His people or His land.   May He grant you the adjustment that you need in your life to serve Him with all your heart, all of your mind, and all of your soul.  May He bless your people as they turn toward Him and forsake a life of hatred and terrorism.

 

To God’s people that receive this missive:   Please continue to pray for all of Israel, both the land and the people.  Pray that God will frustrate the plan of Israel’s enemies to harm the Jewish people or divide up God’s land.  Pray that rank and file Israelis will perceive the truth about the misconceived “Peace (Piece) Plan” called the “Road Map”, and where national repentance is needed, that God would inspire and convict His people.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.   Pray that God will bring His people home to Eretz Israel in His perfect timing, and that He will draw them to an intimate and faithful relationship with Himself.

Ibrahim is now an Evangelical Christian, having formerly been a fundamentalist Muslim. He has an extraordinary storyn to tell, just as Walid Shoebat has. Ibrahim is articulate, and already an experienced speaker. He is another smooth stone to put fear in to the heart of the enemy, and to bless Jews and Christian Zionists around the world. Let us thank God for another righteous Arab who now speaks out for the State of Israel, and justice for the Jewish people. Let us keep Walid and Ibrahim in prayer. Pray for their protection and for open doors so that they can share their powerful testimonies. To God be all of the glory! Great things He is doing in this hour!

 

Short Term Missions

 

Let us all pray for Sam Mishkin as he travels, from June 15^th until July 17^th. Sam will be with YWAM on their Artic Tour. He will be serving in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Russia. Sam has an awesome call on his young life, and he is pursuing that call with great joy in his heart.
